Coaching Staff


1) Naismith Basketball could not operate without our wonderful volunteers. Everyone working with and for this Organization is a Volunteer, and we know that without them, getting back to the sport we love couldn’t happen! If you are interested in volunteering your time as a coach, assistant coach or a team manager, please register on our registration platform. 

 

2) Head Coach and Assistant Coach will receive one free player registration each and will be reimbursed once teams are sorted. If there are two assistant coaches, they will each receive a 50% refund. If you do not receive your reimbursement by end of October, please email the registrar: naismithregistrar@gmail.com. If you have already been approved to coach for the season, please reach out for our promo code to use when registering your child.

 

3) Naismith Basketball requires ALL coaches, assistant coaches, trainers and managers working with our youth teams to submit a current Vulnerable Sector Police Check each year before practices begin.  A completed police check will be required before equipment and uniforms can be distributed to coaches.   For your personalized letter that is required to accompany the form below, please contact Naismith Secretary for your personalized letter.  Link for the https://www.opp.ca/index.php?id=147&lng=en If you have a VSS to upload when registering and it is recent, please go ahead. If you do not, press continue and we will collect these at a later date.

 

4) All coaches, players and parents must review and adhere to Rowan's Law. Please review fully here.

 

5) Naismith pays for tournaments for our teams during the year.  Here is what is covered:

  • House/Recreation - 1 Tournament & year end championship tournament
  • Competitive- 3 Tournaments & EOBA year end tournament OR 2 Tournaments, EOBA year end and Ontario Cup

**Please remit an expense report and copy of the receipt to the Naismith Treasurer for reimbursement.  To receive reimbursement for an entry, please complete the expense report and return as instructed.

 

6) Review Ontario Basketball's Code of Conduct. 

 

7) Coaches/Managers are to collect Medical Forms for each player, link here. 

 

8) Naisimith believes in our players learning the fundamentals of basketball delivered in a fun, inclusive environment.  We pay for coaches certification. The pathway and to view upcoming courses is found here: Coach Training • Ontario Basketball Association
